Privacy Policy
Effective September 27, 2026
This is the English version of our Política de privacidad. Both versions have the same content.
In short
- No accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or a password to use the app.
- Your activity stays on your device. What you view, save, vote on or like, and your preferences, are stored only on your phone. We don't receive them.
- The app is free thanks to Google AdMob ads. Google may process device identifiers to show and measure ads; where the law requires it, we ask for your permission first.
- If you pay to remove ads, Apple or Google handle the payment. We never see your payment details.
- We don't sell your data and we don't use our own analytics.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of the data described in this policy is:
SpanishFeedPrivacy email: highlyintellectualmind@gmail.com
This policy covers the SpanishFeed app for iOS and Android (the "app") and the website https://spanishfeed.vercel.app (the "site").
2. Data that stays on your device
So the feed works and learns what you like, the app stores the following only in your device's local storage. It is not sent to our servers or anyone else:
- Which posts you have seen (so they aren't repeated).
- Your reactions, saved posts and poll votes.
- What you've hidden, sources you've blocked and what you've reported.
- Your preferences by category, format and country, calculated from how you use the app (for example, if you often react to Food content, you'll see more Food).
- Your answers to the welcome survey (topics, formats, countries, humor preference, when you usually read and how you heard about us), settings such as "Include edgier content" or "Notify me about new content", and whether you've seen certain screens.
- A cached copy of the latest news headlines, so they work offline.
- If you bought "Sin anuncios" (no ads), a local flag so the app stays ad-free offline.
You can clear your preferences in Profile → Reset recommendations. Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data. Because we never receive it, we can't access or restore it.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited. When an ad loads, Google's SDK may collect and process:
- Your device's advertising identifier: on iOS, the IDFA only if you allow it in Apple's "Allow app to track your activity" prompt; on Android, the Google advertising ID (which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings).
- Your IP address and an approximate location derived from it.
- Technical device data (model, operating system, language) and your interaction with ads (impressions, clicks).
This is used to show ads, cap how often you see the same one, measure performance, prevent fraud and, only with your consent where the law requires it, personalize them.
- European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland: before showing ads, the app presents Google's consent form (UMP). You can change your choice at any time in Profile → Ad privacy options. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
- iOS: if you don't allow tracking in Apple's prompt, Google doesn't receive the IDFA and ads aren't personalized with it.
More information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. If you buy "Sin anuncios", the app stops loading ads.
4. Purchases (Apple, Google, RevenueCat)
The optional SpanishFeed Plus subscription or purchase ("no ads") is made through Apple's App Store or Google Play. They process your payment and billing data under their own policies; we never receive your card or payment details.
To validate purchases and support "Restore purchases" without an account, we use RevenueCat, Inc., which receives an anonymous identifier generated by the app, the store receipt and the purchase history tied to that identifier. We don't give it your name or email. RevenueCat Privacy Policy. The legal basis is performance of the purchase contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
5. Third-party content and links
SpanishFeed shows content published by others online. To display it, your device connects directly to those third parties' servers, which receive your IP address and technical connection data as with any web visit:
- YouTube videos play in YouTube's official player, and their thumbnails load from Google's servers. SpanishFeed uses YouTube API Services: by watching videos you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies.
- Link preview images (for example from TikTok, Netflix, Apple or news outlets) load from those platforms' servers.
- News: the News tab downloads headlines from each outlet's public RSS feed.
- Links you open: tapping "Ver original" or a Virales card opens that third party's website or app, governed by its own privacy policy.
We don't share any data about you with these third parties; they only receive what your device sends when it connects.
6. Removed-content list
To remove content quickly when a rights holder asks, the app downloads a public file from our site when it opens, listing the identifiers of removed posts. That request contains no data about you or your use of the app. Our hosting provider, Vercel Inc., temporarily logs technical connection data (IP address, time, user agent) to operate and protect the service. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in honoring removal requests and keeping the service secure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
7. When you contact us
If you contact us by email, from the app or through the site's form, we process what you send us: your email address, your name if you give it, the message and, depending on the case:
- Content reports from the app: the post's identifier, its source link and the reason you chose.
- Support from the app: the app version and, if available, the anonymous RevenueCat purchase identifier, so we can find your purchase.
- Copyright requests: the details the procedure requires (identification of the work, the content, and your signed statement).
We use this only to answer you and handle your request. Messages from the web form are delivered through Vercel and our email delivery provider. The legal basis is your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for removal requests, compliance with legal obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)).
8. This website
The site uses no cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or advertising. Vercel, our hosting provider, temporarily logs technical visit data (IP address, time, requested page, user agent) to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
9. What we don't do
- We don't create user accounts or profiles.
- We don't sell or rent personal data, or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond what section 3 describes.
- We don't use our own analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- We don't access your precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
- We don't use your data to train artificial intelligence models.
10. Device permissions
The app may ask for two permissions. You can decline either and the app works the same:
- Tracking (iOS only, App Tracking Transparency), for ads. We ask at the start, after explaining what it's for. You can change it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications, only if you accept our offer to tell you about new content. They are local reminders: your own device schedules them (at most one a week) based on how many posts you haven't seen yet. We don't use push notifications, notification servers or push tokens. You can turn them off in Profile → Avisos or in your phone's settings.
11. Children
SpanishFeed is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email highlyintellectualmind@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
12. Your rights
Depending on the law that applies to you (for example the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, Argentina's Law 25,326, or the privacy laws of California and other US states), you may have the right to:
- access your personal data and get a copy;
- correct or delete it;
- object to or restrict its processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time (for example for personalized ads), without affecting prior processing;
- not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
Since most of the app's data exists only on your device, you can exercise many of these rights yourself: Reset recommendations, uninstall the app, change the tracking permission or the Ad privacy options. For anything else, email highlyintellectualmind@gmail.com; we'll reply within the legal deadline (generally one month). For data processed by Google, Apple or RevenueCat, you can also contact them directly.
If you're in the EU, you can lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).
13. Retention
- Data on your device: until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Emails and requests: as long as needed to handle them, then up to 24 months; removal requests, as long as needed to document how they were handled in case of claims.
- Server logs: our hosting provider's retention period, usually days to a few weeks.
- Data processed by Google, Apple and RevenueCat: under their own policies.
14. International transfers
Some of our providers (Google, RevenueCat, Vercel) may process data in the United States or other countries. When data leaves the European Economic Area, these transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
15. Security
We minimize the data we handle: the best protection is not having it. Connections to our site use HTTPS, and access to received messages is limited to the people who run the service. No system is infallible; if we detect a breach that affects you, we'll tell you where the law requires it.
16. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. The current version is always at https://spanishfeed.vercel.app/privacy.
17. Contact
For any privacy question: highlyintellectualmind@gmail.com.
